Adelaide’s largest mosque, Mahmood Mosque, hosted its first successful NAIDOC week morning tea on Sunday 7th July. The event was attended by Hon Kyam Maher MLC, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General and Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector.
The morning tea featured a Welcome to Country delivered by Uncle Allen Edwards Snr, followed by speeches, and the presentation of a NAIDOC Week Award to Uncle Allen Edwards Snr.
Speeches were delivered by Imam Kamran Tahir of Mahmood Mosque; Hon Kyam Maher MLC; Jason Downs, CEO of Reconciliation SA; Deputy Mayor Cr Edgar Agius OAM JP of the City of Charles Sturt; Dr Munawar Rana, President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association; and Uncle Allen Edwards Snr.
Following the official program, guests enjoyed a sausage sizzle and morning tea.
