Five people have been charged following a vehicle stop at Dee Why earlier today.
About 2pm (Monday 31 December 2018), officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attempted to stop a VW Amarok in a car park on Dee Why Parade.
Checks revealed the car was allegedly stolen.
It’s alleged the vehicle sped away and crashed into a parked car, injuring a woman sitting in the driver’s seat.
When police attempted to arrest the occupants, they allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted the two officers.
OC spray and a Taser were deployed to subdue the group.
Three men and two women were arrested and taken to Manly Police Station.
A male senior constable was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital for treatment after being punched multiple times to the face. He has since been discharged.
The woman sitting in the parked vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation.
Following inquiries, the three men and two women were charged by police.
A 19-year-old Colyton woman was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, drive manner dangerous, never held licence and affray.
A 27-year-old Mosman man was charged with be carried in conveyance without consent of owner and affray.
A 21-year-old Parklea man was charged with be carried in conveyance without consent of owner, assault police (x2), assault occasioning ABH, affray, and carry/wield knife in public place.
A 21-year-old Brookvale man was charged with be carried in conveyance without consent of owner, assault police (x2), assault occasioning ABH, and affray.
All four were refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 1 January 2019).
A 24-year-old Brookvale woman was charged with be carried in conveyance without consent of owner and affray and was granted bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 30 January 2019.
