Detectives from Gladstone Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged five people following an alleged assault on Tuesday, February 4.
It will be alleged at around 10.20pm, a group of five people attended a Wistari Street address in Clinton to visit a 22-year-old man known to them and allegedly struck the man with a weapon.
It will be further alleged the 22-year-old man then ran from the address where he was followed for a short time by the group in a vehicle before a nearby citizen transported the victim to Gladstone Base Hospital.
The 22-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was subsequently flown to Brisbane for further treatment.
Following investigations by the Gladstone Criminal Investigation Branch, detectives arrested five people in the Gladstone area on February 5 and seized the alleged weapon.
A 23-year-old Gladstone Central man, a 22-year-old Port Curtis man, a 32-year-old West Gladstone woman, a 22-year-old Biloela man and a 30-year-old West Gladstone man were each charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
All five were refused bail and are due to appear before Gladstone Magistrates Court today, February 6.
Investigations are ongoing.
