The Swedish Research Council has awarded five different grants, including doctoral programme grants within register-based research and project grants for research on antimicrobial resistance. The grant decisions apply to eight researchers at KI.
The Swedish Research Council has decided on the allocation of the following project grants:
Research environment grant for register-based research
The purpose of the grant is to support interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research environments in register-based research that can address complex issues in order to meet societal challenges by generating new knowledge.
In total, more than SEK 67 million is awarded for the years 2024-2027, of which three grants totalling just over SEK 39.7 million are awarded to researchers and projects at KI.
Doctoral programme grant within register-based research
The purpose of the grant is to educate doctoral students in basic and innovative methods relevant to interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral register-based research. The grant will also strengthen the recruitment base and quality in research areas that use register-based data.
In total, the Swedish Research Council is awarding almost SEK 13 million for the years 2024-2027, of which a grant of approximately SEK 8.3 million is awarded to research at Karolinska Institutet.
Project grant for research into antimicrobial resistance
The purpose of the project grant is to give you as a researcher the freedom to formulate your own research idea, method and execution, as well as to solve a defined research task within a limited time. In total, the company is granting just over SEK 80 million for the years 2024-2026.
Three researchers at Karolinska Institutet have been awarded grants of SEK 8.4 million.
Proof of concept within the infection area
The purpose of the grant is to bridge the gap between basic research and the utilisation or commercialisation of research results in the field of infection.
The proof of concept grant is given to researchers who have or have had grants from the Swedish Research Council, Forte or Formas the opportunity to further develop their research results. For example, to carry out activities that prepare for innovation or commercialization.
In total, the Swedish Research Council is awarding almost SEK 18 million for 2024-2026. A project at KI is awarded a grant of approximately SEK 2 million.
Project grant for international research collaboration within antimicrobial resistance (JPIAMR)
The purpose of the grant is to support international collaboration in the Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR).
This is the 17th call within JPIAMR and has the title “Interventions Moving forward to Promote ACTion to counteract the emergence and spread of bacterial and fungal resistance and to improve treatments”.
Sweden, via the Swedish Research Council is one of the 20 countries taking part in the JPIAMR call. A project at Karolinska Institutet has been awarded a grant of approximately SEK 3.5 million.
