Five Dock public car park saved for Christmas

The City of Canada Bay has successfully negotiated to keep the Second Avenue, Five Dock car park open to the public until at least the end of December 2021.

The public car park, situated near Five Dock’s Town Centre, has been acquired by Sydney Metro and will be closed in 2022.

“Since the acquisition, we have worked with Sydney Metro to ensure the parking facility is available to the public for as long as possible,” City of Canada Bay General Manager John Clark said.

“Five Dock businesses are under unprecedented strain having only recently emerged from lockdown and the loss of this busy car park was the last thing they needed just prior to Christmas.”

“It is vital that we do everything we can to ensure the Five Dock Town Centre remains a vibrant and accessible shopping and dining precinct.”

“Keeping this car park open in the lead up to Christmas is important for the precinct and I thank Sydney Metro for working with Council to ensure we could extend the use of this public facility.”

The car park will be open to the public until 4 January 2022.
