While the city has been recovering from the impacts of the severe weather event on Christmas day, last night we experienced a series of very dangerous thunderstorms.
We have received over 300mm in some areas and are exceeding 300mm across the city in the last 12 hours. We are expecting thunderstorms to continue throughout the day, with the potential for dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding.
Do not enter flood waters, if it’s flooded forget it! Regardless of whether road closure notices are in place, stay off the roads unless necessary.
If your life is in danger, call 000 (triple zero). For SES assistance call 132500 or search SES Assistance QLD on your phone’s app store.

Please shelter in place if possible and help family, friends and neighbours if you can. Please avoid travel if possible and we will provide an update on evacuation centres and sandbagging stations soon. Some locations are planned to be available today for community recovery hubs and community relief, however we will keep the community updated if those locations need to close due to weather impacts.
