Flinders consolidates in ARWU subject rankings

In an increasingly competitive and disrupted research environment, Flinders University has maintained a solid footing in the 2022 ARWU Global Rankings of Academic Subjects.

Of the 54 subjects in the ranking – which assesses research publications and collaborations covering some 1800 institutions worldwide – Flinders University ranked in 15 subjects.

Top 50 rankings were achieved in two fields – Water Resources, in which Flinders was ranked 20 worldwide, and Nursing at 48.

Flinders improved its ranking in Law, moving up into the 151-200 group, and in Biological Sciences, joining the 301-400 group.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Robert Saint says the majority of Flinders subjects maintained their previous positions.

‘Despite the pressures facing higher education, funding for research, and the challenges of collaborating internationally during a pandemic, Flinders researchers stayed the course, supported by our strategic investment of $100 million over five years to support their endeavours,’ Professor Saint says.

‘Our researchers are continuing to produce and publish research that is appearing in quality journals, and that has impact, as evidenced by citations. We also have a notable global focus, further reinforced by our recent for internationalisation.
