A Food and Garden Organic Collection Service (FOGO) remains a priority, along with Waste to Energy, within the City of Ballarat’s broader waste strategy.
Council will continue to explore the implementation of a program to collect food and organics as part of a broader green waste service.
It is, however, a significant change from the garden based green waste service and there are different technology and EPA licence requirements in order to manage a food and organics waste stream.
This is the nature of the exploration Council continues to undertake, along with our regional waste group and state agencies.
