Football Australia Investigation Update 7 October

Football Australia has concluded an investigation into the conduct of a second identified spectator in attendance at the Australia Cup 2022 Final held at CommBank Stadium in Sydney on 1 October 2022.

The spectator in question has today been issued with a lifetime ban from attending Football Australia-sanctioned football matches including all NPL, A-Leagues, Australia Cup, and ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Team matches.

The ban is effective immediately.

As with the first ban issued by Football Australia on Wednesday, the conduct in question relates to a fascist salute or similar gesture conducted during the match and captured on the host broadcast. Such conduct is a breach of the Australia Cup Terms of Admission and Football Australia’s Spectator Code of Behaviour.

Football Australia is also expecting to today receive submissions from Sydney United 58 FC in respect to a show-cause notice issued in respect to certain crowd behaviour during the Australia Cup 2022 Final.

Football Australia is continuing to collaborate with relevant stakeholders and law enforcement in reviewing the anti-social behaviour at the Australia Cup 2022 Final.

Football Australia is committed to promoting a safe and enjoyable environment for all Australians engaging with football, where the rights, dignity, and worth of every person are properly respected.
