Footpath Audits: Port Adelaide Enfield

During October and November, you may see some quad bikes driving around on our footpaths. These quadbikes are very obvious with flashing lights and cameras at the front and rear of the vehicle. We have over 1,200km of footpath across our city and every four years we undertake an audit to obtain detailed imaging and condition assessment. The data captured from this audit will enable our Asset Planners to plan and budget for future footpath replacement and maintenance works to ensure our City’s footpath network remains safe and accessible. In this short video, Louie will show you around one of the vehicles and run through some of the high tech equipment on board, then James will show you how our Asset Planners use this data to help the future planning of our infrastructure.

The assessment vehicles are operated by certified inspectors travelling at a brisk walking pace with hazard lighting and other warning devices in operation while completing assessment. Vehicles are clearly identifiable and operators will be vigilant and yield where ever possible to the needs of the pedestrian public.

We thank you for your tolerance during this brief period and just want to remind you that we aren’t Google! All cameras are focused on the footpath surface structure with some limited viewing of areas directly adjacent. No image recordings of commercial or residential, private properties or structures will be undertaken.
