A former Scoutmaster has been extradited from Queensland and charged with historical sexual assault offences that are alleged to have occurred in the 1960s.
Detectives from Inner West and Eastern Suburbs Police Area Commands launched an investigation after three men came forward with allegations last year.
It will be alleged that during the 60s a man sexually abused three boys, then aged 12, in the Bellevue Hill, Marrickville, and Waterfall areas.
The man was allegedly a Scoutmaster at Edgecliff and Marrickville during this time, and the boys were all members.
About 12pm yesterday (Tuesday 29 January 2019), Queensland Police arrested a 75-year-old man at a Southport medical practice.
Investigators applied for and were granted the man’s extradition at Southport Magistrates Court yesterday (Wednesday 30 January 2019).
The man was escorted by police to Tweed Heads Police Station where an arrest warrant was executed. He was charged with indecent assault on male (x9) and buggery (x2).
He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today (Thursday 31 January 2019).
