A former youth worker will face court today charged over the historical alleged ongoing sexual abuse of a young boy in the state’s Riverina area.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation, following reports a 10-year-old boy had been indecently assaulted on a number of occasions by a man known to him.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 27-year-old man in Leeton about 12pm yesterday (Thursday 14 March 2019).
He was taken to Griffith Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault victim under the age of 16 years.
Police will allege in court that the man, who is known to the boy’s family, indecently assaulted the boy on numerous occasions between 2015 and 2018, when the child was aged between six and nine.
It will also be alleged the man was employed as a youth worker at the time; however, he is no longer employed as one.
The man was refused bail to appear at Griffith Local Court today (Friday 15 March 2019).
Investigations are continuing.
