Four people will face court today charged over the alleged kidnapping and assault of another man in Sydney’s west.
About 10am yesterday (Wednesday 11 January 2023), police will allege four men forced their way into a home in Guilford Road, Guildford.
Inside the property, the men allegedly assaulted and choked a 25-year-old man before they forced him into their vehicle, a BMW sedan.
Witnesses reported this to officers from Cumberland Police Area Command, who commenced a large-scale investigation and search for the vehicle, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Raptor Squad.
The man was allegedly driven to another property in Constance Street, Guilford, where the four men continued to assault and threaten him with a sword.
After several hours, the 25-year-old man was allegedly forced back into the BMW sedan.
A short time later, investigators spotted the vehicle driving on Hawksview Street, Guilford, and stopped the BMW sedan near Chetwynd Road.
The front-seat passenger, a 33-year-old man, allegedly fled the vehicle and was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
The 40-year-old male driver and two other male passengers, aged 27 and 36, were arrested at the scene.
The BMW was seized for forensic examination.
Two were taken to Merrylands Police Station while the other pair were taken to Granville Police Station.
All four men were charged with take and detain person in company with intent to obtain advantage, and aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – use violence.
Police will allege in court that the four men travelled from Victoria to threaten and assault the 25-year-old man, who is known to them.
All four were refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 12 January 2023).
Investigations are continuing.
