Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a single-vehicle crash in the state’s North West, which resulted in four men being hospitalised.
About 10.50pm Friday (26 July 2019), it is alleged four men travelled north along the Wilcannia-Bourke Road at Wilcannia approximately 6km north of the Barrier Highway.
It is alleged the driver of the Toyota Table Top utility, aged 27, lost control when navigating a cattle grid, veering off the roadway and rolling before coming to a rest on its roof.
Occupants of a car following behind alerted emergency services of the incident.
About 11.35pm, officers attached to Barrier Police District, Rural Fire Service and NSW Ambulance arrived on scene to find three men – aged 23, 25 and 60 – suffering multiple injuries.
They were taken to Wilcannia Hospital by ambulance, before being airlifted by Royal Flying Doctor Service to Broken Hill Base Hospital, Dubbo Base Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
The 23-year-old of Bevendale has been discharged, while the other two passengers from Jugiong and Lake Cargelligo remain in a stable condition with multiple internal injuries.
The 27-year-old driver from Young also attended Wilcannia Hospital, and was airlifted to Dubbo Base Hospital with suspected spinal injuries. He remains in a stable condition.
The vehicle was seized, and a crime scene was established at the location of the crash.
Investigations continue.
