The total number of confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection in Victoria is now four.
The latest case is a woman in her 20s, a resident of Melbourne, who is recovering at home with the respiratory illness. She was confirmed positive late yesterday following a series of tests.
After spending time in Wuhan, Hubei Province, she returned home to Victoria on January 25 and became unwell two days later.
She was seen by doctors in a Melbourne hospital on January 30 in accordance with infection control procedures and was assessed as well enough to stay at home.
The woman is not considered to have been infectious on her flight to Melbourne. Since then, she has remained at home and isolated and has had no visitors. There are therefore no public exposure sites and the department has not identified any close contacts that require follow up.
Advice to the public, health services and general practitioners has not changed.
Anyone who has travelled in the past 14 days to Hubei Province, including Wuhan City, or is a close contact of a confirmed case is asked to:
- self-isolate at home and avoid public settings for 14 days after leaving Hubei Province
- seek medical assistance if you become unwell during this time.
