Fourth person charged over sexual assault in company, NSW

A fourth person has been charged over an alleged sexual assault in company of a girl in Sydney’s west more than three years ago.

On Saturday 21 May 2016, police from Mt Druitt Police Area Command were contacted following reports a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted by a boy she knew and his friends at a home in Mt Druitt.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad established Strike Force Basks to investigate the incident.

As a result of inquiries, three teenage boys – aged 15 and two aged 17 – were arrested and charged in July 2016.

Following further investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 20-year-old man at Lithgow Police Station about 10.30am today (Wednesday 31 July 2019).

He was charged with aggravated sexual intercourse with person (between the age of 14 and 16 years).

Police will allege in court that the man, then aged 17, sexually assaulted the girl in the company of three other teenagers.

The man was remanded in custody to appear at a children’s court today.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
