Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have today swooped on a man allegedly responsible for a spate of property and vehicle theft since August this year.
Police will allege the 39-year-old man was involved in nine property and vehicle theft incidents between August and October in suburbs including Frankston, Hastings, Hallam, and Pakenham.
Police believe the man was involved in an incident on 9 October where he was confronted by the homeowner while allegedly attempting to steal from a residential property on Wettenhall Road, Frankston.
While attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle, the offender allegedly drove at the victim, hitting him and pushing him into his garden. The victim luckily only suffered minor injuries.
Items reported stolen during this spate of offending include a Toyota Landcruiser, several number plates, personal items, medical equipment, and a trailer.
It will also be alleged the 39-year-old man was involved in the alleged theft of a BMW from a residential property on Whitehorse Road, Mont Albert in April 2020.
The 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged with reckless conducting endangering life, burglary, theft of and theft from motor vehicle, trespass, driving while suspended, fraudulently use number plates, deal with the proceeds of crime, and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
He has been remanded overnight to appear before the Frankston Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
On 10 October, a burnt-out white Toyota Landcruiser was discovered burnt out on Mintern Road, Tynong North a day after it was allegedly used in an attempted burglary on 9 October at Wettenhall Road, Frankston.
