Midland Police have charged a man as part of an ongoing investigation into complaints regarding the fraudulent sale of dogs to buyers across the Perth metropolitan area.
It will be alleged the seller of the dogs provided false information to prospective buyers, including information regarding the age and breed of dogs, vaccination status, the presence of a microchips, and used a false name and breeder identification during the sale processes.
On each occasion the seller only accepted cash, and buyers paid thousands of dollars for the dogs.
As part of the ongoing investigation Midland Police yesterday, Thursday 3 September 2020, executed a search warrant at a residence in Hackett Street, Bellevue. The search warrant was executed in company with the RSPCA and City of Swan.
At the time of the search warrant 25 dogs were located, including 16 puppies believed to be as young as 1-week-old.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and was advised he is being charged with 11 counts of Gains Benefit by Fraud. He will be Summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing.
