Leeton Shire Council is pleased to announce it was able to secure a limited number of Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) from NSW Health in an effort to support access to COVID-19 testing to further protect our community.

The free tests were distributed to local organisations that would ensure priority groups in our community were protected first and foremost. Those groups included Senior Citizens, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities.

The Leeton Shire Library was also supplied with RATs due to a high number of its patronage consisting of the above (pictured above is Council’s Library Trainee Alesha Kelly with the new COVID-19 tests).

Mayor Cr Tony Reneker was pleased to hear further tests were made available through NSW Health and commended the WH&S staff involved in securing them.

“While COVID-19 is no longer considered a global health emergency by the World Health Organisation, our vulnerable groups in the community continue to be at risk. The supply of further tests will go a long way to ensure they are adequately protected,” said Mr Reneker.
