Free 15-minute hearing checks are available for children aged 3.5 – 6 years to help detect problems that may lead to learning and language difficulties in pre-school aged children.
If undetected, hearing problems can impact short and long-term speech and language development.
This program supports young children’s transition to school, and is delivered in partnership with Hampton Rotary and the University of Melbourne.
Students from the university conduct the checks under the instruction and observation of a qualified audiologist.
Appointments are available from 9am – 4pm on Saturday 14 September at Hampton Primary School, 528 Hampton St Hampton. Bookings are essential. Book online
The program was first piloted in 2015 and was the first of its kind to be delivered by a Victorian council. It has now been rolled out in several other municipalities.
