Free Live Music at Shellharbour Civic Centre

‘Live on the Lawn’ series returns

Shellharbour City Council’s popular live music series, Live on the Lawn, kicks off this Friday 3 November with energetic acoustic performer Kate Young.

Live on the Lawn is a free music event showcasing the talents of local performers. It will be held every Friday from 11.30am and 1.30pm between November and February (except 15 December and public holidays).

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾r encouraged the community to drop into the Shellharbour Civic Centre to enjoy the music while supporting local artists.

“There are so many talented musicians and singers in our region. Council is proud to provide opportunities for them to share their love of music with our community,” Mayor ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾r said.

“It is a great atmosphere. Sitting on the lawn, enjoying the performances and the warmer weather is the perfect way to relax and ease into the weekend.

“While you’re there, why not grab a bite to eat or a coffee from the Civic Square Café?” he said.

This Friday’s performer, Kate Young, has been performing for 10 years. She has an earthy, energetic style and plays an eclectic mix of favourites, forgotten tunes and one-hit wonders.

Kate said she enjoyed playing Council’s Live on the Lawn series as it delivered “something a little different” for her across the summer months.

“Live on the Lawn is great because it’s in a ‘Day on the Green’ style setting in the sunshine and fresh air,” Kate said.

“It’s so lovely to play for families, workers grabbing coffee, and the unsuspecting public walking past,” she said.
