Free Over 55’s Employment Session And Morning Tea

Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce a new initiative to assist community members over the age of 55 in finding employment.

As part of our Cessnock LGA Seniors Festival 2024, a free over 55+ employment session and morning tea will be held at Cessnock League Club on Wednesday 20 March between 10am and 11:30am.

During the Employment Session, participants will have the chance to learn about job opportunities that match their skills, experience, and interests, and connect with local employers who are actively seeking mature-aged employees within fields such as healthcare, retail, hospitality, and customer service. Attendees will also hear expert advice about how much can be earnt without impacting pensions.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal welcomed the Council initiative that aims to support the employment prospects of over 55s within the community.

“By providing a dedicated Employment Session and connecting job seekers with local employers, we are offering opportunities for mature-aged individuals to pursue meaningful careers and contribute to the local economy,” said Clr Suvaal.

“We invite all local businesses to join us in this initiative and benefit from a pool of experienced and reliable workers.”

Businesses who are interested in being involved in the initiative are invited submit an expression of interest on the day of the event, or in advance by visiting . The EOI will be reviewed by Council and qualified candidates from the over 55+ employee pool will be matched to the positions submitted by businesses.
