Hawkesbury City Council will offer free remote area recycling collection events that will accept wastes such as paint, motor oil, gas bottles and batteries. All residents attending must register and numbers are strictly limited.
This year’s remote area recycling collection events will be held at:
- St Albans on Saturday, 22 August
- Colo Heights on Saturday, 5 September
- Bilpin on Saturday, 19 September.
Council held a trial remote area recycling collection event in October 2019 at St Albans which proved to be very popular. The recycling collection provided an opportunity to dispose of household problem wastes that otherwise would require an approximately three hour round trip to attend the Annual Chemical CleanOut Event at Hawkesbury Showground or the Community Recycling Centre at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility at South Windsor.
Household Problem Wastes including paint, motor oils, car batteries, household batteries, and gas bottles will be collected. Council staff are organising the events to allow residents who live in the more remote areas of the Hawkesbury to safely dispose of items that can otherwise pose a fire risk, health risk or potentially pollute the natural environment including waterways.
