Fremantle Burglary Series

Fremantle Detectives are seeking information in relation to a number of linked serious offences that occurred in the Fremantle District on Wednesday 5 October 2022.

During the first incident a silver Honda CRV, WA registration MH544E was stolen during a burglary at a home in Melville.

About 1.30pm, the offenders drove the stolen vehicle to Spearwood where they forced entry to the home of an 89-year-old man. The 89-year-old man confronted the offenders who demanded money before searching his home.

Fearing for his safety, the victim waited from a couch till the offenders left, then promptly called family who alerted police.

It is believed the same offenders then committed another home burglary in Winthrop before driving to the Westfield Booragoon shopping centre. At the shopping centre, a 75-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle when one of the offenders approached her from behind, pushed her and stole her handbag.

During the incident the woman fell forward onto the ground hitting her head and dislocating and fracturing her shoulder. She will require surgery on her shoulder and she is awaiting the result of scans to confirm if she has facial fractures as well.

The offenders gained the woman’s home details after stealing her handbag and proceeded to her home and used her keys to gain entry and steal various items. All whilst she was receiving medical care.

There were three to four suspects involved in these incidents and they are described as males in their teens to early twenties.

Detectives urge members of the public who may have been in the vicinity of the shopping centre and saw the incident or the stolen Honda CRV, or who have dash-cam or mobile phone vision of the area/stolen vehicle to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online www.crimestopperswa.com.au
