Robbery and Serious Crimes Squad detectives have laid an additional 18 charges against a man following an investigation into a string of robberies across Sydney over the last year.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Canberry to investigate several robberies at various businesses, including fast food restaurants and chemists, between July 2019 and June 2020.
In July this year, detectives arrested a 24-year-old man at a home at Moorebank.
Following further inquiries, three men – aged 20, 24 and 26 – were arrested a month later.
All four were charged over their alleged roles in various robberies across Sydney and currently remain before the courts.
As part of ongoing investigations, Strike Force Canberry detectives laid an additional 18 charges against the 24-year-old Moorebank man at a Silverwater correctional facility yesterday (Tuesday 8 September 2020).
The charges include;
- Robbery armed with offensive weapon (x6),
- attempt robbery in company (x2),
- robbery in company,
- attempt robbery armed with offensive weapon,
- robbery in company cause wounding/grievous bodily harm,
- supply prohibited drug (x2),
- restricted substance sold by non-wholesaler,
- unlawfully loiter about or near place of detention,
- unlawfully deliver or attempt to deliver anything to inmate,
- aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal (greater than $60,000),
- knowingly/recklessly direct criminal group assist crime.
The man is now facing a total of 20 charges relating to his alleged involvement in the robberies.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Wednesday 9 September 2020).
