You might have seen plenty of television cameras and UK food presenter Ainsley Harriott in the Wollongong Friday Foragers Markets in February.
Ainsley was filming an episode for his Ainsley’s Australian Market Menu, which is on SBS. He booked a stall in the Friday markets and arrived with his own cooking equipment. He spent the morning exploring the foragers market where he chose ingredients to create a menu that onlookers could sample at lunchtime.
From the Foragers Market Ainsley matches watermelon with pure, wild honey and coconut. He also sautés pink oyster mushrooms with amaranth leaves, a local caprino Romano cheese and serves on freshly baked sourdough. To finish his menu, Ainsley uses organic eggplant for a tempura with Asian spices and honey.
The popular Foragers Markets is held each Friday in the Crown Street Mall and features a range of fresh, local organic produce, a variety of food stalls, flower producers, and handmade creations.
The Wollongong episode will be screened this Thursday 7 November at 7.30pm. You can also catch it on , or stream on .
