A colourful new addition to the Territory’s events calendar last year, the Kindness Festival makes a welcome return to the Top End’s Darwin Waterfront on Saturday, 25 June 2022.
This year’s Kindness Festival will highlight the vital role international students and multicultural communities play in the Territory, and the theme for this year’s event is ‘How Do You Show Kindness’.
With a packed program from 4pm-10pm, people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy performances, activities, a parade, a pet experience zone, international food stalls, social club garden and more.
Last year’s inaugural Kindness Festival proved to be a huge success, with more than 4,000 people attending from more than 48 different countries. Organisers hope to build on this success in 2022, with even more attendees and nations represented.
The Kindness Festival was inspired by the Kindness Shake, a multi award-winning, not-for-profit organisation and charity that provides support and services to international students and temporary visa holders in the Territory. Services include free meals, employability workshops, wellbeing programs, social events and more to help with personal and professional growth. Since its launch, Kindness Shake has served more than 6,000 meals, helped 900 individuals, partnered with more than 40 organisations and local businesses, recruited 200 volunteers and raised in excess of $200,000.
The Kindness Festival is supported by the Territory Labor Government through the Northern Territory Major Events Company’s Event Funding Program.
