Funding boost allows Albany Motorsport Park to zoom ahead

  • Additional $2.67 million allocated for Stage 1B of Albany Motorsport Park
  • First stage features a motocross dirt circuit track, clubhouse, and offroad driver training
  • Stage 1B will add a 1.09-kilometre Northern Circuit and asphalt sealing

The Cook Labor Government will provide an additional $2.67 million in funding towards Stage 1B of the Albany Motorsport Park project.

Officially opened in July, Stage 1A of the project has been a game changer for Albany motorsport enthusiasts with a new 2.4-kilometre motocross dirt circuit track, clubhouse, facilities and associated infrastructure, and an offroad/4WD driver training area.

Stage 1B will complement these works, delivering a 1.09km Northern Circuit and asphalt sealing.

The project will meet the high demand for motorsports in the region and foster social engagement, mental and physical health outcomes, club participation, volunteering, and job creation.

The additional funding brings the State Government’s total investment to $8.42m, with the Commonwealth Government also providing almost $5m in funds.

The Albany Motorsport Park is a joint project between the City of Albany and the Great Southern Motorplex Group Inc.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

“Great Southern locals are already loving the new Albany Motorsport Park, and I’m thrilled to announce a further $2.67 million to accelerate the next stage of the project.

“My Government’s total investment of more than $8m is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local clubs with world-class facilities.

“From circuit racing to driver training, the Albany Motorsport Park is delivering great amenities for the whole community.”

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman:

“Once complete, the Albany Motorsport Park will provide a purpose-built environment for multiple sports including circuit racing, speed racing, 4WD and driver training, motocross, and cycling plus social club events.

“The facility is already being put to great use with the completion of Stage 1A, and this additional funding will allow the next stage to be completed.

“This project truly is a huge win for the Great Southern and I congratulate all involved.”

As stated by Albany MLA Rebecca Stephens:

“The Albany Motorsport Park is a game changer for local motorsport enthusiasts and the next stage will build on its success.

“The new Northern Circuit ensures the park will continue to meet the high demand for motorsport facilities in the Great Southern into the future.”
