- Recipients announced for grants supporting veterans’ health and wellbeing
- Organisations could apply for grants of up to $150,000
- Research projects will help understand challenges faced by veterans
Support for Queensland’s veterans will be strengthened by research organisations receiving funding through a one-off Queensland Government grants program.
Assistant Minister Bart Mellish announced at a Queensland Ex-Service Organisaitons forum, in Brisbane today, that four organisations will share $500,000 through the Veterans’ Health and Wellbeing Research Grants Program, which was launched in April 2023.
Grants were available to eligible organisations to undertake new research or to expand the scope of an existing project to improve the understanding of issues impacting the health and wellbeing of veterans.
The recipients are:
- Griffith University, to develop alcohol prevention programs
- University of Queensland, to address issues of identity change and the loss of social connection
- Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation, to enable health and wellbeing self-support, and to study chronic pain in female veterans
- University of Southern Queensland, to support transitioning from defence to the cyber security industry.
