Funding for Logic gas gate

The Victorian Government has announced $2.6 million in funding for a gas gate at Logic.

A gas gate has been a priority for the council and Logic for several years and will allow the precinct to tap into the main gas line which runs through Logic and provide high-pressure, consistent gas for industry that require it.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Dixon welcomed the announcement.

“The council has received consistent inquiries over the years from business requiring this infrastructure and this investment,” he said.

This investment will secure significant future investment attraction and industry at Logic, realising hundreds of job for our wider region and support the sustainable growth of our regional producers in reaching national and international markets.

“Some of the potential industry we could see on the site with a gas gate is food production, waste to energy technology, pharmaceutical, chemical, building materials and linen production industries.”

The council has $1 million in the present year’s budget has well as further allocations in the long-term capital plan for the Logic gas gate.

The full project cost is expected to be about $5.5 million and take 12 to 18 months to complete.

Wodonga Council established the Logic precinct in 2002.

In that time there has been almost $25 million in land sales and it has created more than 600 jobs.

Minister for Regional Development and Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said the projects were the next step in helping locals, businesses and communities get back on their feet.

The funding is part of $8.5 million released from a new Bushfire Tourism and Business Fund, which will support a range of projects in fire-affected areas across East Gippsland and North East Victoria. The $10 million fund is expected to create more than 260 jobs and could unlock over $120 million in private investment.
