Road and infrastructure projects underway across the Hawkesbury funded by the Albanese Government, have been the focus of a visit by Federal Minister for Regional Development, and Local Government, Kristy McBain MP.
These federally funded projects – valued at more than $434 million – are being delivered over several years, and are on top of bushfire and storm recovery projects.
Minister McBain met with Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman MP, Deputy Mayor Cr Barry Calvert and Hawkesbury City Councillors to see the progress of some these significant investments and to discuss the projects in the pipeline, which include:
- The $400 million investment for the new Richmond Bridge and surrounding traffic improvements – being delivered by Transport for NSW
- $7.47 million to support the delivery of priority local road and community infrastructure projects in the Hawkesbury, including $265,000 to renew a section of damaged road on Valder Avenue, Hobartville, from Cornwell Avenue to Holborrow Avenue
- Almost $6 million dollars has been allocated to 13 traffic black spots in the Hawkesbury as part of the Black Spot Program, with more than $1 million committed to improving a 500-metre section of St Albans Road in Lower MacDonald to improve local road safety
- $5.4 million in funding to Hawkesbury City Council in the Roads to Recovery program from 2019-20 to 2023-24
- $3 million for Woodbury Reserve Adventure Park in Glossodia
- $500,000 for playground upgrades in South Windsor
- $400,000 for playground upgrades in Bligh Park
- $11.2 million for the Hawkesbury Roads Upgrade Package
