The Tasmania Liberal Government is backing local events as they look to boost marketing and promotion efforts.
Minister for Sports and Events, Nick Duigan, said the Government was making grants available to assist event organisers to increase their intrastate marketing to target visitors from outside their region, or to conduct interstate marketing that will attract visitors from outside Tasmania.
“The Tasmanian Government is throwing its support behind events of all sizes across the State by investing in their success,” Minister Duigan said.
“Events play a pivotal role in driving Tasmania’s tourism and hospitality sector, drawing visitors and showcasing our unique culture.
“The Events Tasmania Marketing Grant program provides grants of between $2,500 and $10,000 to help promote some of the fantastic events which do our State proud, year after year.
“Effective marketing is essential to an event’s success, particularly when reaching and engaging new audiences.
“Strategic promotion not only elevates event visibility but also strengthens Tasmania’s reputation as a vibrant destination, ultimately contributing to the growth of our visitor economy.
“Supporting visitors and locals to connect and celebrate at organised events across the State is an important part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.”
Previously, the program has supported Tasmanian events to create and share new digital content, and also contract videographers and public relations specialists to engage specific target market segments through tailored social media campaigns.
Events funded through the 2024 program include Festival of Flowers, Coles Bay Triathlon, Ginuary Hobart Festival, Tamar Valley Folk Festival and TEDxHobart.
The grant program – available to events between 1 January and 30 June 2025 – is now open for applications and will close Tuesday, 1 May 2025 or when the available funding has been fully allocated – whichever occurs first.
