A key bridge in the heart of Bowen Basin used heavily by major mining and freight industries will be replaced as part of an $18 million upgrade.
The Australian Government has confirmed it will retain its funding of $14.4 million towards the Philips Creek Bridge replacement on Saraji Road between Dysart and Moranbah.
The Queensland Government has committed a further $3.6 million toward the project.
The proposed design will provide two 3.5-metre-wide lanes and two one-metre-wide shoulders that will be stronger and wider for heavy vehicles.
The bridge will also have improved approaches and increased deck height for safer travel and flood immunity.
Next steps will be to finalise tenders and award a contract for the work by mid-2024 with an expected finish date mid to late 2025, pending procurement processes and weather conditions.
