A further two men have been charged following investigations into the theft of firearms from a property in the state’s Orana Region.
Strike Force Akoonah was established by officers at Central North Police District to investigate the theft of firearms during an aggravated break, enter and steal offence at a property near Nyngan in August 2019.
Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 22-year-old at a home on Algalah Street at Narromine, about 8.15am on Tuesday (3 December 2019).
At the same time, a 23-year-old man was arrested by police at a home on Mullah Street at Trangie.
Both men were served with a Firearms Prohibition Order and a Weapons Prohibition Order, and were taken to Dubbo Police Station.
Police conducted a search of addresses on Algalah and Murgah Street at Narromine, Mullah Street at Trangie, and a rural property on Gainsborough Road at Narromine where it is alleged various items suspected stolen or unlawfully obtained were seized.
The 22-year-old man was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, and goods suspected stolen in premises.
He appeared before Dubbo Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 4 December 2019) and was granted conditional bail to appear before Nyngan Local Court on Monday 24 February 2020.
The 23-year-old was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence.
He appeared before Narromine Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 4 December 2019) and was bail refused to appear before Nyngan Local Court on Monday 24 February 2020.
The two arrests come after a 23-year-old man from Nyngan was charged in relation to the incident on Monday (23 September 2019).
Investigations are ongoing.
