Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Unit have laid further charges against a 78-year-old man following additional victims making formal complaints to police.
On Wednesday the man was served a notice to appear to face 20 charges relating to indecent dealing of a child. He is currently in custody and expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 14 March 2022.
The man was initially arrested on Wednesday 20 October 2021 by members of the WA Police Force, following investigations by Queensland Police into a number of alleged indecent dealing offences that took place between 1980 and 1986 in the Brisbane and Rockhampton areas. He was charged with nine counts of indecent dealing of a child and one count of common assault.
Police are encouraging any other potential victims or anyone else with knowledge of this matter to please come forward.
