The Australian Government continues to invest in the next generation of drought resilient leaders through the Future Drought Fund (FDF).
Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia, David Littleproud said 99 mentees and 66 mentors have been selected in round two of the FDF Drought Resilience Leaders mentoring program.
“The mentoring program joins farmers with experienced industry professionals for a chance to learn about drought preparedness from those who have lived and worked through the issue themselves,” Minister Littleproud said.
“This continues the great work done so far – round one of the program that saw 143 mentees and 117 mentors selected. They are now sharing knowledge and experience that will benefit them and their communities in the years ahead.
“A third round will open in early 2022. I encourage any interested farmers and those employed in the agricultural sector to contact ARLF to find out how they can take part. We’re aiming to build a national mentoring network of 300 mentees matched with 250 mentors.
“The Drought Resilience Leaders program also has a series of webinars, open to everyone, and offered until to June 2022 with a focus on drought, climate, and supporting resilience on farms and communities.”
