Future Drought Fund: Tenders Open

  • Tenders are now open to develop a Future Drought Fund Drought Resilience Research and Adoption Investment Plan.
  • Applications are open until 7 January 2021 on Austender.
  • The plan is expected to be delivered by 30 June 2021.
  • The Australian Government is encouraging applications from suppliers or consortia to develop a national Drought Resilience Research and Adoption Investment Plan.

    Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud said the investment plan will identify short and long-term research and adoption priorities for Australia.

    “The investment plan will help ensure the activities of regionally-focused adoption and innovation hubs are informed by national priorities,” Minister Littleproud said.

    “The plan will be a key pillar in shaping our drought resilience research and adoption program under the Australian Government’s $5 billion Future Drought Fund and has the potential to influence broader innovation and investment beyond the Fund.

    “Applicants will be assessed on their national network capability and expertise in understanding the social, environmental and economic issues of drought resilience.”

    Interested organisations have until 7 January 2021 to apply.

    Fast Facts:

    • The development of a Future Drought Fund ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Drought Resilience Research and Adoption Investment Plan is a component of the Research and Adoption program, and includes the establishment of Adoption and Innovation Hubs and Innovation Grants.
    • The $86 million Drought Resilience Research and Adoption Program is a four-year national program. It is one of eight programs under the Future Drought Fund.

      The objective of the Program is to invest in collaborative research, development, extension, adoption and commercialisation (RDEA&C) activities aimed at helping primary producers and rural and regional communities to become more prepared for, and resilient to, future droughts.
