G20 countries held global clean-up events on 21 May in a collective effort to improve the health of our waterways and generate awareness about the importance of taking care of our environment.
The department partnered with the Indian High Commission and Clean Up Australia to conduct the Canberra event, which removed over 27 bags of rubbish from the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.
The clean-ups are a part of the G20’s vision for keeping our beautiful waterways and marine ecosystems healthy and litter-free.
Australia is actively involved in this year’s G20 which is focusing on key environmental issues including resource efficiency and the circular economy, ocean health, biodiversity loss, water resource management, and climate change.
