It’s time to clear out and cash in as the nation’s largest festival of pre-loved stuff – the Garage Sale Trail – returns to Swan in 2024.
This is the third year in a row that the City of Swan has been involved in the trail and residents are encouraged to get on board and host garage sales over two big weekends in November.
Joining the Garage Sale Trail means you:
- Get access to tips, tricks and free promotional materials
- Can make a bigger impact. Last year, the Swan community kept more than 16,600kg of preloved goods in the economy, diverting them from a life in landfill
- Can be part of a nationwide sustainability movement.
If you don’t have a garage, you can enjoy shopping the trail on November 9-10 and 16-17.
You’ll uncover hidden gems like second-hand clothing, jewellery, kitchen items, décor, tools and much more.
On the Garage Sale Trail, there truly is something for everyone.
Tanya Richardson, City of Swan Mayor, said she was thrilled to see the trail returning to Swan in 2024.
“We had over 1,600 residents participate in the Garage Sale Trail last year and we’re so excited to see even more join in this year,” she said.
“We’re committed to minimising our waste to landfill and initiatives like this one help us keep useful items in the economy for longer.
“If you have items that are in good condition but you don’t use them anymore, now is the time to register for the Garage Sale Trail and let them go to a new home.”
Sharlene Dimov, Swan resident and 2023 Garage Sale Trail participant, said she loved being part of something that brings the community together to reduce environmental impacts.
“I’ve participated in the Garage Sale Trail for a number of years and it’s nice to know I am stopping items from going into landfill,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to sell things like household items, clothing, jewellery and accessories that I may not use or wear anymore.
“I know the Garage Sale Trail happens each year, so I can easily collect items over time to contribute to the sale.”
Registrations are now open and it takes less than five minutes to sign up through the City’s Garage Sale Trail microsite:
