In one brilliant 50-minute song and dance spectacular, Gene & Judy brings together the extraordinary talents of the legendary Gene Kelly and Judy Garland in a concert dedicated to two stars of Hollywood and Broadway’s golden age of musicals.
In 1940, up-and-coming Broadway star Gene Kelly was offered the lead role in Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart’s new musical Pal Joey. One of his performances was attended by established Hollywood star Judy Garland, who requested to meet him after the show. Two years later they starred together in For Me and My Gal, in what was Kelly’s Hollywood film debut. They later went on to star alongside each other in other musicals including The Pirate, Words and Music and Summer Stock.
With powerhouse vocals, stunning tap dancing and fabulous costumes, and featuring some of the most beloved songs from their movies together and songs from their own films and TV shows, Gene & Judy is pure entertainment bliss.
Gene & Judy will transport you on a musical journey through the life, music and dance of Gene Kelly and Judy Garland with songs like Me and My Gal, Be a Clown, Get Happy, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, I’ve Got Rhythm, and more. The show also includes a special arrangement of Quiet Please, There’s a Lady on Stage – dedicated to Judy Garland.
From the team behind productions like Practically Perfect – The Music of Julie Andrews and A Fine Romance – The Magic of Fred Astaire, Gene & Judy is one show that will have you up and on your feet, or toe-tapping from the comfort of your own lounge room sofa.
