The Australian Government notes the official results of parliamentary elections which took place in Georgia on Saturday 26 October.
While we welcome the fact that millions of Georgians have exercised their right to vote, the preliminary findings of impartial election observation missions have recorded widespread acts of voter intimidation, vote buying and other irregularities.
Australia calls on the Government of Georgia to fully and promptly investigate all voting irregularities.
Australia supports a democratic, stable, and prosperous Georgia which upholds its commitments to democratic principles including human rights, media freedoms, freedom of expression, and freedom of association.
