Get ready to groove on New Year’s Eve 2019

It’s time to get in the groove and start the countdown to New Year’s Eve celebrations in Wagga Wagga.

Wagga Wagga City Council will for the first time host this year’s NYE2019 free family-friendly event which is back at the Victory Memorial Gardens for a community party in the central business district.

The evening summer sky will be filled with fireworks and the fine tunes of various local musical acts headlined by the popular Groove Factorie and crowd favourite Nathan Lamont.

“It’s a fantastic time of year – to celebrate the end of one year and to welcome in another is always worthy of a community event which we’re delighted to be part of,” Groove Factorie’s Dale Allison said.

“We’re certainly planning to help everyone celebrate an enjoyable night so come along and have some fun and enjoy the fireworks to finish off the night.”

The line-up of local talent will also include Maddi Popple and Zoe Glanville who will perform between 5pm and 6.45pm before The Groove Factorie takes centre stage at 7pm for a two-hour set.

The fireworks display will start at 9.15pm and conclude at 9.30pm which also marks the end of the community event.

Council’s Visitor Economy and Events Co-ordinator Fiona Hamilton said the event has been designed around a family-friendly event which will give revellers the chance to visit local venues after the fireworks.

“We’re encouraging people to bring a picnic tea to the Victory Memorial Gardens, or take advantage of the food vans, and enjoy an evening with family and friends while listening to some quality local performers,” Ms Hamilton said.

“After the fireworks there is the opportunity for people to remain in the CBD or visit other venues to continue the celebration at local hotels, clubs and hospitality businesses, and young families will have the option to leave the area at a reasonable time as the fireworks will take place at 9.15pm.”

Patrons are able to make a gold coin donation to Ronald McDonald House on the night.
