Gippsland entrepreneur to empower young women

IntoWork Australia

Gippsland-based entrepreneur, speaker and Corporate Health and Performance Coach Christine Boucher will share her journey with young women in Bairnsdale on Monday, 17 October.

The second of AGA’s series Women in New Careers (WINC) series is aimed at female school leavers and will feature speakers from three key industries in Gippsland – health/social assistance, agriculture, and forestry/fishing – as well as opportunities to meet prospective employers, and workshop personal and career development skills.

Christine will share her 20 years’ experience in the health care industry, from humble beginnings bandaging up her brother’s injuries, to working as an intensive care nurse and then starting her own health-coaching business, Natural Health Balance, working in the corporate health and workplace wellness space.

She’ll talk about her experience as a woman in the health care industry and the highs and lows of her journey, and share strategies to help young women set and reach their goals.

“I’m very successful in my business but what I’ve noticed with women in business is they have a lot of uncertainty around themselves and their own mindset. I’m here to share my story and empower women to see their own self-worth and value and to ultimately believe in themselves to figure out their own paths moving forward,” Christine said.

Christine will also talk specifically about Gippsland’s healthcare industry and different avenues into the field, “Health is such a broad profession, you can go anywhere from being a support officer to a surgeon to anything in between. I’ll give them some tools and strategies around how they too can empower themselves so they can fulfil their wildest dreams,” she said.

The day will also include valuable insights from employers and industry leaders who are leading the way in breaking down female career progression barriers.

Other topics will also include professional development, hidden job markets, transferrable skills, confidence building, self-promotion/networking, and local support services.

After the workshops people can book a free one-on one career coaching and/or mentoring sessions with trained Career Development Consultants who will work with them to develop a career plan and provide them with strategies to be able to progress with their chosen career path.

The program is being run by AGA, part of the IntoWork Group, in partnership with other businesses in the Group including Mas.

Christine will talk at the Mitchell River Tavern in Bairnsdale on October 17.

There’ll be 12 other sessions across the Gippsland region in different locations, including Morwell at the Morwell Italian Australian Sporting Club on October 18, Warragul at AGA Baw Baw Skills Centre on October 19 and Leongatha LLEN on October 20.
