Latrobe City Council has welcomed funding confirmation for Stage Two of the Gippsland Logistics Precinct to support development of internal road and utility infrastructure with flood mitigation earthworks.
The $10 million election commitment from the Federal Government has been confirmed in the 2022/23 October Federal Budget.
This stage of the precinct will be covered under the Federal Government’s Infrastructure Investment Program.
Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan said the Gippsland Logistics Precinct was crucial to the success of Latrobe City’s transition.
“The Gippsland Logistics Precinct will provide a dedicated location in the heart of Latrobe City for business operations. With ease-of-access to Melbourne via the freeway and rail opportunities, the precinct is a great opportunity for businesses with a focus on innovation and high-tech skills.
“We expect the project will create up to 500 jobs and will drive economic investment as new industries are brought into our City.
“Council would like to recognise the support of the Federal Government which will make the precinct possible. We look forward to seeing more progress at the site and working with potential investors to commit to locating their operations within the precinct,” said the Mayor.
