The Rockliff Liberal Government is delivering the confidence and conditions that Tasmanian small businesses need to thrive.
Visiting Tasmania’s iconic venue Shipwright Arms Hotel or “Shippies” today, Minister for Small Business, Nick Duigan, congratulated the business on its recent multi-million redevelopment made possible through a Government no-interest loan.
Shippies is going from strength to strength, and their recent renovations has returned the venue to its glory days.
Their work has paid off, with the venue recently being awarded Best new/developed hospitality venue at the Tasmanian Hospitality Association Awards for Excellence.
Minister Duigan said Shippies is another one of Tasmania’s business success stories.
“We back our businesses 100 per cent – they are the engine room of our economy,” Minister Duigan said.
“The Rockliff Liberal Government’s long term plan to grow the economy and create more jobs provides our small businesses with the confidence and conditions they need to thrive.”
“Shippies received an interest free loan through the Department of State Growth to expand their business through a multi-million-dollar redevelopment, securing their offerings for years to come.
“It’s this kind of support that our Government is providing that gives businesses the confidence they need to invest in, and employ more staff.
“When our businesses are doing well, Tasmanians are doing well.
“We know that Tasmania is a place where people want to do business, and we’ll keep making it easier for those people to do exactly that.”
There are more than 41,000 small businesses in Tasmania, employing over 100,000 people.
Among those are thousands of hospitality businesses, just like Shippies, who are contributing more than $700 million into our economy each year.
