Glamping on Rottnest on its way

  • New eco glamping comes to Rottnest Island
  • First major development on the island in 30 years
  • The accommodation offering adjacent to the iconic Pinky Beach will deliver 70 jobs
  • The much anticipated ‘glamping’ experience on Rottnest Island is about to arrive with Discovery – Rottnest Island opening to the public in just three weeks.

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia today toured the $25 million joint venture, between Baileys Group and Discovery Parks, as the finishing touches are nearing completion.

Set behind the dunes of Pinky Beach, the property will offer guests the chance to experience the island’s spectacular natural environment in low-impact, high-quality eco-tent accommodation.

The new resort consists of 83 eco-tents each with ensuites, connected via paths and elevated walkways and Pinky’s Beach Club complex complete with swimming pool, alfresco bar and licensed dining areas.

The new accommodation option complements the ongoing rejuvenation of Rottnest under the McGowan Government, which has included the recent launches of eight new businesses and activities on the island including a crayfish catch and cook tour; glass bottom kayaks; boat hire and a food caravan at Wadjemup Lighthouse.

As stated by Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:

“Record visitor numbers continue to show that Rottnest is a favourite destination for local, interstate and international visitors.

“Discovery – Rottnest Island will enhance the island’s appeal to emerging tourism markets, while still remaining accessible to Western Australians who have treasured Rottnest for decades.

“Rottnest’s reinvigoration is underway and this is another major milestone for the island and WA tourism.”
