Officers from Bayside Police Station continue to investigate a hit and run collision which occurred in Glen Huntly in February.
Investigators have been told a 63-year-old Elsternwick woman and a 2-year-old Caulfield girl were crossing Glen Huntly Road at Booran Road about midday on 20 February.
As they crossed the road they were struck by a black Toyota RAV 4 which was turning from Booran Road into Glen Huntly Road.
The Toyota pulled over to the side of the road and the driver, perceived to be a middle aged woman, approached the pair, stated she was going to call a doctor and then returned to her vehicle and drove off.
The 63-year-old suffered serious injuries and is still in hospital with fractured legs, broken bones in her hand and deep vein thrombosis.
The 2-year-old suffered bruising and trauma.
