Ahead of the Christmas and New Year holiday period Canberrans are reminded to complete their essential day-to-day business ahead of time and online.
With many ACT Government services, including Access Canberra Service Centres, closed or working reduced hours between Christmas and New Year, there has never been a better time to go online and save time.
This includes for Canberra’s motorists with more than 38,300 vehicle registrations and 4,600 driver licences up for renewal in December.
Driver licences can be renewed for five years quickly and simply online, without the need for a new photo to be taken (your photo now lasts you 11 years), while registration renewals can also be completed from the comfort of your lounge room at the .
Over 450 services and transactions are available online with Access Canberra. Some of the most popular transactions include:
- Motor vehicle registration and renewal
- MyWay card recharge
- Fix My Street applications
- Applying for birth, death, or marriage certificates
- Park and Ride permit applications.
If you’re unable to complete transactions online or over the phone, make sure you prepare ahead of time to visit your local Access Canberra Service Centre or shopfront to avoid the rush.
You’ll also notice during your visit that Service Centres and shopfronts are using the to provide additional reassurance for the community around COVID-19 contact tracing.
Access Canberra Service Centres and shopfronts will be closed from 3.45pm on Friday 24 December 2020 and will re-open at their usual opening time on Monday 4 January 2021.
Some ACT Government services will be closed, or have restricted opening hours, during the festive period. Essential services will continue to operate to keep us safe.
