Golden opportunities, UAC offers are not the only option for school leavers

Year 12 graduates who miss out on university offers should take advantage of apprenticeships and traineeships currently available. They are highly considered a worthwhile pathway to becoming formally qualified in a career of choice with zero debt at completion, according to one of Australia’s largest providers of apprenticeships and traineeships, Apprenticeship Careers Australia (ACA).

ACA ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ General Manager, Luke Radford says, “Year 12 school leavers now have an opportunity to choose whatever pathway they like, with hundreds of providers wanting to take on trainees and apprentices.”

It is not just the traditional trades that offer apprenticeships and traineeships. There are business operational programs from major providers available. One of the big ticket providers is the NSW State Government, offering Infrastructure Traineeships.

“This is a golden opportunity for the youth of New South Wales, they have the chance to participate in business, project management, and procurement traineeships,” Mr Radford said.

Once qualified and experienced the future looks very bright for participants in such programs. According to SEEK.com, the average annual salary for a qualified Project Manager or Procurement Manager in Australia ranges from $125,000 to $145,000.

Mr Radford adds, “With programs like these our young Australians really do have a unique opportunity to secure a head start in life, without any student loans hanging over them.”

Apprenticeship Careers Australia is also now facilitating programs in the Healthcare sector, servicing community care, disability support, and aged care, where demand is at an all-time high.

“The Health sector is a high-growth area. Training in this industry will only strengthen an individual’s employability well into the future,” Mr. Radford said.
