Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a golf buggy was allegedly stolen from an athletics club in Sunbury on Monday morning.
It is alleged a witness was on their early morning jog at a reserve on Mitchells Lane when they saw a man driving a golf buggy out of a shed and down Bradman drive just after 6.30am.
Police launched an investigation and discovered the shed door had allegedly been forced open.
Another witness allegedly sighted the golf buggy at a residential property on Barrington Lane and saw a man loading it onto a trailer.
The witness filmed the man and provided the footage to police.
Investigators identified the man from the footage and subsequently executed a search warrant at a property in Sunbury on 20 November.
Detectives arrested a 39-year-old Sunbury man at the property, and he was charged with burglary, theft and cultivate a narcotic plant.
He was bailed to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrate’s Court on the 1 April 2025.
The golf buggy was recovered and reunited with the president of the athletics club.
